Good Shepherd Shelter for Battered Women and Their Children
Good Shepherd Shelter is a long-term treatment and education-oriented shelter for battered
women and their children.
Volunteers are needed to serve as teachers or aides in our elementary tutorial center. The elementary tutorial center covers grades K-7 and-has approximately 25 children in it. Each teacher or aide has approximately 5-8 children, usually at one to two grade levels. They work closely with the therapists to create a secure and therapeutic environment , to give each child the attention he/she needs, to give the children a positive experience of school, to develop healthy social skills, and to accelerate their academic progress.
