Good Shepherd Volunteers was founded by the sisters of the Good Shepherd in 1992. The Good Shepherd Sisters are an international order of women whose mission forever remains that of reconciliation, the reaching out to people who have experienced injustice, oppression, and alienation due to the life circumstances and or unjust social structures.

The foundress, St. Mary Euphrasia, knows the pain simple and brokenness of our humanity. She had a vision of human wholeness and an insight into the infinite worth of each person.

The sisters of the Good Shepherd and the volunteers share the same work in this collaborative project, as laity become involved with a variety of programs run by the sisters.
